Title: WEATHER IMPACT ON ROAD ACCIDENT SEVERITY IN MARYLAND YUE LIU, M.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering, 2013 Directed By: Professor and Chair Ali Haghani, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering This study was conducted to analyze and quantify the impact of weather factors on road accident severity, based on Maryland accident data during 2007-2010. In order to find a better model fitted related variables, three candidate models multinomial logit (MNL), ordered probit logit (OP), and neural networks were chosen to examine in SAS. The results showed that the Multilayer Perceptron Model in neural networks performed the best and is the accident severity

عوامل خطر وقوع صدمات ناشی از تصادفهای ترافیکی در رانندگان جادهی قزوین ـ لوشان، سال 1384
Background & Objectives: Considering the lack of adequate basic information on risk factors for road traffic injuries in Iran, a study was conducted to determine the association between potential risk factors and the incidence of injuries in motor vehicle drivers. Methods: We performed a population-based case-control study on Qazvin-Loshan road. Risk factors related to injury incidence were...
متن کاملWeather Conditions and Road Accidents in Ireland
Weather events have the ability to cause disruption to the road networks, both by making roads impassable, and by leading to a deterioration in safe driving conditions. Heavy snows in the winters of 2009 and 2010, as well as extreme flooding in 2011 and 2015, have demonstrated the ability of weather events to impact transport services and mobility. Within an Irish context there is very little r...
متن کاملModifying PIARC’s Linear Model of Accident Severity Index to Identify Roads' Accident Prone Spots to Rehabilitate Pavements Considering Nonlinear Effects of the Traffic Volume
Pavement rehabilitation could affect the accident severity index (ASI) since restoration measures means more safety for road users. No research or project has been carried out to identify hazard points to build a linear model based on crash severity index. One of the very popular accident severity index models used in all countries is based on linear models to rehabilitate pavements and this pa...
متن کاملRainfall effect on single-vehicle crash severities using polychotomous response models.
As part of the Wisconsin road weather safety initiative, the objective of this study is to assess the effects of rainfall on the severity of single-vehicle crashes on Wisconsin interstate highways utilizing polychotomous response models. Weather-related factors considered in this study include estimated rainfall intensity for 15 min prior to a crash occurrence, water film depth, temperature, wi...
